Enough: Week 4 "God has given us enough time in God's time!"

“For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

What time is it? As I look at my clock it's just past 4:00 pm on Monday afternoon. I have a list of a few things I want to get done before book study this evening.

What time is it as you read this?

What are you trying to squeeze in your busy day?

What season is it? I noticed the sky is darkening a little earlier. Bush and tree leaves are getting a little crispy in patches. Flowers are fading. Though autumn doesn't come for another month by equinox standards, fall is in the air.

No matter what time or season in life we are, can you imagine all the times and seasons God has seen? Our time on earth, whether two hours or 102 years, is just a blip in God's eternity, although I don't sense God is struggling to keep up.

This week, ponder at God's patience and enduring mercy throughout the generations. God knows times have changed and isn't holding that against humanity. Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again. Creation is held in this promise.

The question is how is the love of God through Christ Jesus changing us over the course of our lives. Has your heart for justice and compassion for others grown? Have you learned new depths of love, grace and forgiveness through the seasons of your lifetime thus?

We can trust that no matter what time it is, God is faithful and present to us always. May God grant us wisdom to trust this and embrace the time we have today with hope and thanksgiving.
